Our parish\u2019s vision is \u201cthat every person\u2019s heart be inflamed by the love of God\u201d
Ours is a welcoming parish. We welcome all who would like to join our parish or be guided by the principles and teachings of Jesus Christ.
The title \u201cSyro Malabar Christian or St. Thomas Christian\u201d is an appellative of those Christians who had their origin as a result of the apostolate of St. Thomas the apostle, who tradition says, came to India, precisely in Kerala at Kodungallur in the year 52 A. D. There existed from time immemorial a body of Christians on the Malabar coast claiming descent from those converted by St. Thomas the apostle. The truth of this tradition is tenaciously upheld by all the Syrian Christians in Kerala.
It is quite undeniable that Keralians are hardworking, adventurous, ambitious and passionate. Hence, fascinated by the beautiful and bountiful continent Australia, the early immigrants from Syro Malabar Church, moved to the vast and serene oasis of Melbourne before two and a half decades. And these pioneering families kept intact their spiritual heritage and patrimony by actively and regularly attending the available spiritual nourishment services in English around the parishes of Werribee, Hoopers Crossing and Laverton. Gradually, lot of Syro Malabar families reached to new suburbs of Point Cook and Tarneit.

The Syro-Malabar Church fulfils Christ\u2019s command through systematic proclamation and catechesis of faith. \u2018Catechesis\u2019 is derived from the Greek word, \u2018Katekein,\u2019 which literally means to \u2018resound from above,\u2019 and \u2018instruction by word of mouth.\u2019 Catechesis therefore means to re-sound Christ the teacher and instruct Christ\u2019s teaching. Broadly, we understand Catechesis as \u201can ecclesial act or ministry of education or instruction in the Christian faith or faith doctrine imparted to the baptised or catechumens, generally in an organic and systematic way, with a view to initiate and lead them to the maturity of faith and fullness of Christian life\u201d (Syro-Malabar Catechetical Directory #45). The Syro-Malabar Catechesis believes in an integral faith formation i.e., (i) Catechesis through Celebration; (ii) Catechesis through Instruction and (iii) Catechesis through Apprenticeship.
